1.7 Earthquake shakes Roosevelt Island, NY. There is profound prophetic significance to this than meets the eye. God wants us to be prepared.
On January 3, 2024, in the swing of the new year, I was drawn to an event that took place New York City. At exactly 5:45 am a 1.7 earthquake shook Roosevelt Island including Astoria, Queens.
If you know anything about me, I am deeply connected to New York. I was raised there. My father worked in NYC for all his career. So when something significant happens to that state I have great compassion for the people and what God is doing there.
Earthquakes in New York are rare. An earthquake in NYC is even more rare. I then started to feel the Holy Spirit speak to me concerning this event.
He said,
“Look at the location and who it is named after”
For some reason when it comes to prophecy, the Lord speaks to me in symbolism a lot and through historical events. After researching I found this article on President Theodore Roosevelt [which the island was named after]:
He [President Roosevelt] was elected President in November 1932, to the first of four terms. By March there were 13,000,000 unemployed, and almost every bank was closed. In his first “hundred days,” he proposed, and Congress enacted, a sweeping program to bring recovery to business and agriculture, relief to the unemployed and to those in danger of losing farms and homes, and reform, especially through the establishment of the Tennessee Valley Authority.
By 1935 the Nation had achieved some measure of recovery, but businessmen and bankers were turning more and more against Roosevelt’s New Deal program. They feared his experiments, were appalled because he had taken the Nation off the gold standard and allowed deficits in the budget, and disliked the concessions to labor. Roosevelt responded with a new program of reform: Social Security, heavier taxes on the wealthy, new controls over banks and public utilities, and an enormous work relief program for the unemployed.
Roosevelt was the president that was linked to the Great Depression. He was also the same president that took the United States off the gold standard. Two really big moments in American history. When I was reading this particular article a few words stuck out as well: “13 million unemployed”, “every bank was closed”, and “social security”.
As I went further I also felt pushed lead by the Holy Spirit to look at the time the earthquake happened [5:45 am]. I then felt lead to read these specific verses in Isaiah:
I say this with the fear of God in my heart because I am going to be held responsible for what God has told me to share, but I have this strong prophetic unction that we are going to face economic troubles in the near future. I find it interesting and timely because there have also been talks about many nations switching off the American dollar and joining BRICS; which is interesting basing their currency back to the gold standard.
But do not be overcome by fear because there is more to this word! I think that God gives a heads up concerning events like this NOT to scare us, but to prepare his people. As it was shown in the book of Acts 11:27-30.
God not only sent his prophets to warn about the coming famine, but they were also able to send relief. It’s like God to warn us and also provide a means to thrive at the same time. I think that is going to take place. There is going to be great shaking, at the same time great means of provision for those who are listening to God’s voice.
I think what God has shared with me is similar to what happened with Agabus. This is a heads up and for his people to be prepared. I am not an a financial advisor, but it might serve you well to make preparations and back up plans just in case something goes sideways. Maybe it is time to stock up on non-perishables and have equipment available that is not dependent on money.
It is also like God to speak through numbers; which plays a big role in this prophetic word. Remember the time when the earthquake happened? 5:45 am. The number 5 is the number of favor and the ability to overcome. And the number 45 is the number for provision, protection, and perseverance. God has favor and the ability to overcome with provision, protection, with perseverance, in the mighty name of Jesus!
Jesus received 5 different wounds on the cross. We overcome Satan by the blood of the lamb and the word of his testimony [Revelation 12:11]. When God made a covenant with Abraham he sacrificed 5 animals [Genesis 15: 9-21]. God is more than willing to give wisdom for those who seek it and strategies for you to flourish [James 1:5-6].

This is a time for His people to really be hearing what the Lord is saying to them. I also suggest that you take the time to pray, seek his face, and repent. God has a promise for us that if we do, He will literally heal our land.
I am not totally sure of the gravity of what is coming or to what extent. I didn’t get a specific time frame either, but I still have a strong prophetic unction that this is something we could face. I personally believe there are some bad people in charge of our world governments that are forging this path and there is only so much the Lord can withhold before there is need for correction.
I think there are going to be some amazing testimonies how God’s people not only persevered, but thrived in this time. This is going to be a time of great victory and shaking at the same time.
I bless you in the mighty name of King Jesus! Remember, God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love and of sound mind.
